More thoughts on Parkour…

The evolution of life? Where are you at? and where are you going?

bored kids > jackass stunts > parkour > free running > tricking > martial arts

I’m very interested to read about young people that seem to argue amongst themselves about what parkour is and where they stand on flips and tricks. People seem to discover parkour and quickly claim to be a traceur and be passionate about it… then discover the fun of flips and suddenly they’re not a traceur (often without realising) …. then they’re told they’re free-runners… then they start kicking a bit and now …. they… don’t… know …. what …they …. are!

next thing they know they’re being set upon by ‘purists’ and told they’re ‘not this’ and ‘not that’ etc. Who gives a shit? really? why care? …. don’t label yourself, don’t become a purist, don’t get 100% Parkour tattoo’d on your arm until you’ve done a decade at least… don’t label yourself anything unless you’ve tried every alternative and discovered exactly what your limitations are.

Do play about with every genre, muck about with everyones heads… screw about with all the rules… rebel against every precident you’ve been shown. I understand why people want an identity, but jeez, admit you’re just having fun and discovering loads of stuff.

Who cares? .. well I think only you should care… everyone else can go shove a rusty screw driver through their temples.

You are a result of your actions, not your words… and your actions may take years to form your identity. Labels are for tins of soup.

i relly like parkour and i would like to join up how can i ?

  2. I’d say the best thing to do is to research it, look on youtube for tips and ideas, maybe search for your hometown and see if anything is going on there. Try big sites like http://www.urbanfreeflow.com/ or where ever is big in your area. If you see people in the street doing it, ask them, see if they will show you some moves and help you get going and find more people learning. hope this helps.

    UF is freerunning duh

  4. I know that, the reason why I used ‘parkour’ in the title is because so many kids (and adults) don’t know the different between that and free-running, and besides Parkour is a more frequent search term on Google duh.

thanks for stopping by and commenting :)

I M FROM INDIA AND I PRACTICE PARKOUR AND I M HAPPY THAT I M LEARNING IT BT THERE R MANY OTHERS WHO WANTS TO LEARN PARKOUR,AND THERE R NO EQUIPMENTS NOTHING TO START,I STARTED THIS MYSELF BY WATCHING VIDEOS….BT THERE R SOM PEOPLE WHO CANT LEARN THIS BY ONLY WATCHING…I REALLY FEEL BAD THAT IN INDIA THERE IS NO FUTURE IN SPORTS… THEY DONT GIVE CHANCE… EVRYTHING WE HAV CAN DO IS DO IT URSELF.
